Case 1 Environmental office grows over time and incorporates energy, waste and mobility management. Then, it becomes a sustainability office (or an independent sustainability office is established). The alignment of community members to sustainability principles is promoted through a long process of engagement.

Case 2 The direct involvement of the top governance in promoting sustainability as a key strategy accelerates communication and engagement, sharing of objectives, and enables a more rapid alignment of the community.

Case 3 The president commits to sustainability as one of the key strategies for his/her governance mandate. In the best cases sustainability is the leading strategy that directs all the actions at institutional level. The alignment of the community and the reach out is very strong and rapid and all community members get involved in the process.
