iPads in Foundation Phase
With interactive games, features and apps our iPads are providing an excellent stimulant working towards the Early Years Foundation Phase Framework
The children will be accessing and achieving skills from all areas of the EYFP Framework
We would not be without the iPads they are an excellent engagement, which enables children to access skills at their own level
Apps we use
Sort them out!Sort your apps into folders
Use guided access to 'lock apps'
Make sure you update regularly to get the best out of your apps
We don't always use the same apps in each year group. Some apps have levels and some are just more appropriate for separate year groups
Literacy, maths and Topic
L
If early years education continues to focus exclusively on traditional forms of literacy, then it will be failing to provide all children with the skills they will need at school and in their future lives
We use iPads for letter formation, reading and creating books, phonics and making puppet shows
M
We use the iPads in maths for very much the same reasons as we do for literacy. We also see the same success. The games are well designed and intuitive and have lots of gratification, they are easy to use with Maths Makes Sense our numeracy scheme.
T There are plenty of topic based apps that cover each area of development

Want to have a look?
We use our apple tv to work with each other
interactively. Jake mirrored a number bond onto the TV and then Daniel mirrored the answer. We also do this as a group with the teacher
putting up questions or pictures of children's work. It is also great for Self and
peer assessment and evaluation of how we have learnt. It's also great for showing off what we do!
WebDav, Observations and Assessment
WebDAV We use WebDAV to put work immediately onto the macserver
This allows the iPads to be cleared of work so they do not become full of photos, observations and children's projects
It also prevents accidental deletion of the above!
We have found it an extremely useful tool.
2Simple Build a profile
We use 2Simple BAP across our FP
The app allows you to take a photo, make notes and next steps and then add each learner per observation and the outcome they have achieved
It is very simple to set up and use
It generates a report at the end of the year
You can track children's progress online
