HOW INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) WILL REVOLUTIONISE DOMESTIC ENERGY USAGE?
As the human race march towards its optimum development, it is important for us to ensure
that we take adequate measures for its sustainability.
The non-renewable sources of energy are being exhausted to such a limit that it is exposing the civilisation to a universal threat of running out of
energy.
We all know how important it is for us to figure out the alternate sources of energy, so that the future of humankind stays on growth track. It is
equally important to use measures that will allow us to control our energy usage. This is
where IoT comes to rescue.
Here are the several measures that IoT will utilise in order to change the way we
consume energy.
REDUCE ENERGY DEMANDS
IoT will allow people to monitor their energy usage even on the minute levels. The IoT
based devices can stop energy wastage by controlling the flow of energy whenever it
detects any wastage. These devices can act on their own, which enhances the chance of
energy conservation.
PREDICT AND MITIGATE TECHNICAL PROBLEMS
IoT is capable of decoding the huge sets of mysterious data in order to provide valuable insight to a given topic. Consequently, it can monitor the health of several electronic devices, which will lead the
users to respond appropriately for preventing any damage.
MOBILE ACCESSIBILITY
An important characteristic of IoT is that it enables the user to control different devices through their smart phones. And since smart
phones have become a household item, everyone can contribute to save energy for
the future.
COMMERCIALISATION OF DOMESTIC ENERGY
Currently, energy flows in a single direction to the households and business buildings right from the
power plants. Once the users can track their personal energy usage, they will also get a chance to conserve enough energy, which they can later
sell to power grids. As a result, the energy will flow in both ways, eventually
changing the course of power production and distribution.
