Session description Interested teachers will have the opportunity to explore what

personalized learning is and will learn the core components of the personalized learning honeycomb. They will learn the first steps in implementing personalized learning in the classrooms (Teachers will learn to guide their students in creating a class goal and will learn management techniques to track progress towards goals and the completion of goals. This will be accomplished by making a connection to the instructional tools and management techniques described in “The CAFÉ Book” by Boushey and Moser.) Teachers will work with the learning continuums previously creating in the Spring of the 2014-2015 school year to gain competence in identifying student goals and become familiar with the progression of skills. (The learning continuums are entirely aligned with the CCSS in reading, writing, language and math and consist of student “I can” statements.) Self-assessment techniques described in “Visible Learning” by John Hattie will be discussed as an integral component of personalized learning. Finally, teachers will learn how to use formative assessments aligned to the CCSS to identify instructional needs.
