What is it?
• A logical, unambiguous classification of products in different product classes (categories)
• Listing of the most important technical characteristics of each product class to describe and find the articles
• Each class has several synonyms, thereby finding the right product is much easier for everyone!

• Maintenance/alignment with ETIM model

What is BMEcat?
• Open XML Standard (de facto) for the exchange of electronic product catalogues for e-Commere – Partner-to-Partner
• Supports ETIM classification (and others)
• German origin but international acceptance
ETIM International BMEcat guideline 3.0
• Aims to give international suppliers a clear and uniform exchange format to distribute their product data to all ETIM supporting countries.

• Comprised of manufacturer/distributor product experts
o Must have international footprint
o Already have some volunteers manufacturers
o Sub-groups focused on specific product areas
o Begin with one or two classes and its features and values
o Develop remaining plan from initial effort
o Focus on class translation first (help mfrs populate new Class field in IDW)
• Kick-off meeting held in March hosted by NEMA
o ETIM International Technical Director provided training on model
o Looking for more participants to cover broader product areas
