CUTS TO
INT. SIXTH FORM COMMON ROOM SOFAS – AFTERNOON
Shannon is sat reading a newspaper with a picture of Fern as a missing teenager on the front page. Her friend Leah is sat on the opposite end of the sofa, going through her phone and not listening to Shannon.
SHANNON
Hey Skye!
Skye continues to be on her phone.
SHANNON
SKYE!
Skye finally looks up.
SHANNON
Have you heard about this girl called charlotte?
LEAH
Who is she?
SHANNON
She looks familiar. She’s a 17-year-old girl, who’s gone missing. She’s the first student to go missing, in what has been called a dark age on our streets.
LEAH
(mutters to self) You serious?
SHANNON
She was last seen by her friends and CCTV follows her boarding a bus towards Bentley priory.
LEAH
(long pause) We don’t know her.
SHANNON
I know but still. Who you texting?
LEAH
That boy I met on Facebook.
SHANNON
Oh, here you go, this will be funny. Social networks such as Facebook, twitter and tumbler, have been blamed for recent abductions and attacks on young people. Are you listening? Skye this could be you one day! Do you not realize that?
LEAH
It’s not exactly gonna be me is it.
SHANNON
Well you never know!
Shannon exits angrily, clearly annoyed at Leah’s blasé attitude. Leah opens out the paper and begins to read.
