Information about the Seychelles

• There are 115 islands that make up our country.• We part of the African continent in the Indian

Ocean near Madagascar.• We are the only islands made of granite in the

world.• The local ‘Seychellios’ speak ‘Creole’ which is a

mixture of old french and swahilli.• We are one of the only places in the world to

find the giant tortoise.

Background information

• 800 students• From aged 3-18 years old• Aproximately 24 tutor groups from Year’s 3-13• We follow the British National Curriculum• We represent over 20 different nationalities• We have around 47 teachers• We have two playgrounds, eight bath rooms

and two car parks.

• We have 3 main buildings, a library and three computer rooms with 25 computers in each.

• Our school canteen is called The ‘Tuck Shop’• We have 3 Science laboratories.• We also have a link school on an Island called Praslin

which is 1 hour on a boat or 15 minutes by plane.• All of our classrooms have air con because it is very

hot here.• Our class sizes are around 25.
