Transforming transformations

Key word transformations almost always have phrasal verbs and expressions tied into the grammatical transformation. It’s important to have students using these structures with phrasal verbs before they ever have to face them in practice test conditions or even before they know that they are part of testing.

Transforming transformationsWe can:1) Put well-known structures into comic strips.

Example so/such/tenses etc.

2) A great way to do this is to put the sentence structures into caption boxes and then add blank speech bubbles. Students can then be asked to fill in the story using certain phrasal verbs but all based on their own imaginations. These can be done as whole class collaborative stories until they are able to create their own.

3) After wards teacher can take their stories and Phrasal verbs and show how they can be blended into the caption.
