Once students see the phrasal

verbs in context, we must elicit meaning and

get them thinking so that the new phrases become part of

their mental language map.

Transforming transformationsWe can:1) Put well-known structures into comic strips.

Example so/such/tenses etc.

2) A great way to do this is to put the sentence structures into caption boxes and then add blank speech bubbles. Students can then be asked to fill in the story using certain phrasal verbs but all based on their own imaginations. These can be done as whole class collaborative stories until they are able to create their own.
