Under the new Erasmus+ programme, the EU will offer Ukrainians more opportunities

to benefit from grants for student mobility, academic cooperation, and youth exchanges.

• Over 4,000 young Ukrainians are expected to benefit from

university exchanges under Erasmus+ , and staff will also receive grants for training and teaching opportunities abroad.

Ukrainian students and universities will be eligible for scholarships to follow full joint Master's degrees offered by consortia of European universities.

6

Page 7: Innovative Programs of International Cooperation

More than 7,000 Ukrainians will also receive EU support to participate in youth exchanges, in the European Voluntary

Service or through funding for the mobility of youth workers.

The new scholarship program is built on the basis of the ideas similar to Erasmus and Erasmus+ programs, which allow students to complete part of the studies in one of the European Union countries.

9

The cost of the program is over 10.7 mln PLN. Financing by the Polish government will cover Bachelor, Master’s and PhD courses at Polish Universities, as well as the living expenses during the stay in Poland.

These scholarships are directed to all residents of Ukraine, however preference will be given to applicants from the areas affected by military activities who have lost their ability to support themselves.

Page 10: Innovative Programs of International Cooperation

One hundred scholarships for Ukrainians who live in the areas of military activities are still available this year, and a further four hundred will be available for Ukrainian students in 2015 – this is what is proposed as aid by the Polish government for students from Ukraine. Starting from winter semester the first hundred Ukrainian students (who have completed the second year of their Bachelor degree – Bakalaureat) will commence their free-of-charge studies in Poland. They will also receive 900 PLN scholarship for living expenses.

Page 11: Innovative Programs of International Cooperation

From January 2015 the next stage of the program will commence with 400 students (who have completed their second or fourth year of their Bachelor degree) being able to continue their Bachelor and Master’s studies in Poland.

The scholarships are also directed towards PhD students from Ukraine. Fifty people authorized to undertake post-graduate studies are first of all students of universities cooperating with Polish partners.

Currently students from Ukraine form the largest group of foreign student in Poland: 42 per cent. In the academic year of 2013/2014 fifteen thousand Ukrainian students studied in our country, four thousand of whom already receive various forms of financing (exemption from tuition fees, scholarships).

Useful information for Ukrainian students in Poland is available on a special website prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education: www.go-poland.pl. It is also available in Ukrainian: www.go-poland.pl/uk.

Master’s degree Ukrainian student

My name is Oleksii, and I'm from Ukraine. I came to Poland for master degree studies and fortunately passed to Poznan University of Technology. Being a telecommunication’s engineer I've chosen ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) group, where all courses are conducted in English. Now I am finishing the studies and preparing for diploma exam. I can definietly recommend Poznan University of Technology for everybody who wants to get quality technical education. There are all modern facilities for studying, supplied with the strong and qualified support of the staff. I think for a foreigner PUT is a perfect place to study, get new experience and develop professional skills. 13

Oleksii Fedorenko-

Research and innovation are increasingly interlinked internationally, in a landscape that has been changing rapidly. Alongside industrialised countries, emerging economies have been strengthening their research and innovation systems. The new International Cooperation strategy focuses on research and innovation, in areas of common interest and mutual benefit.

Horizon 2020 the EU Framework programme

for Research and Innovation

Page 17: Innovative Programs of International Cooperation

The goal is to ensure Europe produces world-class science, removes barriers to innovation and makes it easier for the public

and private sectors to work together in delivering innovation.

Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of

funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020).

By coupling research and innovation, Horizon 2020 is helping to achieve this with its emphasis on excellent

science, industrial leadership and tackling societal challenges.

Page 18: Innovative Programs of International Cooperation

As a core part of Europe 2020, Innovation Union & European Research Area, Horizon 2020 aims at:

• Responding to the economic crisis to invest in future jobs and growth;

• Addressing people’s concerns about their livelihoods, safety and environment;

• Strengthening the EU’s global position in research, innovation and technology.

18

Page 19: Innovative Programs of International Cooperation

Mainly, Horizon 2020 is composed out of three main pillars:
