Like every magazine I have included a masthead of the production company for the magazine, which I Empire. I had choice to either make one or choose an existing magazine and so I chose and existing one/ reason to why I chose this, is because the colour scheme of my magazine is black, white and red so it suits my magazine well. Its eye catching and also the size of the font is very big and clear and the colours is so bright that it draws attention to the audience straight away , I have followed the conventions of a horror magazine by placing the heading EMPIRE right at the top across the page making it noticeable.

I have slightly challenged the codes and conventions of not adding too much information about the film. Haven't included much about the film. I left it like this because what I’ve got on so far questions the audience it attracts them, the audience that theses are images part of the film ‘slaughter’ and he images are rather mysterious is the way the character have portrayed themselves.

Throughout the research I’ve found on horror magazine I have noticed that a vast majority of have challenges the codes and conventions, by manipulated the image into black and white and also added lots of scratch marks effect and this conveys a great sense of genre and the image itself is a person holding a sharp knife and the scratch marks can be done by the knife. Majority of horror magazine covers include the face of the final girl, or a victim or the monsters hidden identity whereas in mine I though to use this picture because the knife conveys the genre very well in the sense that knife can give connotations of danger, blood ,violence and etc.

I have followed the code and conventions of a horror magazine by keeping all the font the same . I have used the same font through out the making of this magazine and used two colours which are red and white. I chose white to be the colour as it makes the appearance of the magazine effective and it stands out well and also in many horror magazine they tend to use black and white most commonly and also white can give connotation of ghosts and red can give connotations of blood and danger/ this aware the audience that the film ‘slaughter’ will include gore and violence.

I have followed the codes and conventions of a added a banner saying ‘no1 horror magazine’ this is in many magazine , white is a persuasive line for the horror fans. When seeing the banner, the audience will pick this straight away due to the persuasive language used. The features I have included are part of the magazine such as ‘who will be the one to survive last?’, ‘can you handle question make the audience question themselves and this automatically makes them buy the magazine and read it. The wordings used and the use of buzz words in the magazine are all interesting and attracts the horror fans.

In many magazines, for the free posters bit they include a shape around the text whereas I have only included the text in a bloody font with blood spattered around to convey a sense of genre to the audience. Many of the horror magazine that I have seen doesn't include a give away of a free poster and so I have challenged the codes and conventions.

Live every other magazine, a barcode is one of the main conventions, which enables people to scan it and find out the price of the magazine, right about it includes date and the price. I have went to a number of shops and seen that the magazine prices are near the same rate as £2.99 as so I followed the convention and also through my audience feedback I have learnt that most of target audience are willing to buy horror magazine and they get money so it should be fine to display this rate. I have included the month of the date only ,this is release people tend to spread it using word of mouth. So I believe that when some thing new such as teaser, magazines are released, it will be something that the society will be on about for months.

I have followed the codes and conventions of the 3 way colour scheme. Most magazine have a colour scheme that represent s the film or the magazine itself and for my magazine red is the colour symbolises ‘slaughter’. I've chose the colour red, white and black., as they go well with each other.

This is the typography that have been using through out all construction of my product (magazine and trailer). The reason to why I have chose to keep the same typography in all my product is because it makes a self identity the film itself. Any where you see the same typography you automatically will think of the film ‘slaughter’. This shows that I have followed the codes and convention as from the other posters I researched I studied that they use the same typography that symbolises their film and so I have followed it.

As you saw from my contact sheet the images that I have taken , for my poster I have chosen an image very carefully that conveys the sense of genre from the many selection there was. I chose this because of the hand gesture, facial expressions and the fact that she wore black which connotes danger. The way she is portrayed shows that she is very scared of something and its bothering her so badly this conveys the genre horror, I have followed the codes and convention of choosing a suitable image for the genre and also is a clear medium close up shot. I have manipulated the image into black and white which connotes danger and violence and included scratch marks effect. I chose to do this because I wanted my poster to have something unique about it, I haven't come across a poster that the actual image itself is manipulated in black and white, so I wanted to try out something new. She blends in with the background which can connote that she's trapped and she has n0o other way to escape from the monster or whatever she may be scared of.

I have included a slogan right bellow the masthead. The language used here is to encourage the target audience into watching this film and they’ll be suspicious about what may be around the corner. I have followed the codes and conventions by including a slogan as many posters that I have studied have a description on it that will make the audience wanting to watch the film. The use of language is very important in order to attract the audience.

I haven't included the actual day to when its releasing, I just wrote coming soon because by doing this the target audience will be waiting for the movie to release and this makes them wanting to see it even more as word of mouth spread more and more people will get to know about it . I have followed the codes and conventions of adding all the production company information however I have missed some out which I though is not necessary for my film. I have subvert the codes and conventions by only added three logo which I believe is enough my my poster. In the other posters that I've studied I have noticed that there is a lot of logs at the bottom of the page.I have followed the codes and conventions by included the ages rate which aware the audience if who my target audience are. Having a 15 age rating rather than a 18 age rate Is best for my film and I will get more audience.

The colour scheme for my poster is black, red and white. From the feedback I've received from the respondent I have learnt that these colours are the most suitable for horror genre as it connotes blood, danger, loneliness, violence, death, etc. I have used these colour for my magazine as well I find it effective to use for my product as if conveys a sense of genre.
