Dearest Darling Friends,

I don’t care who you pretend to be.

When things ARE going great guns in life, when the face is pretty and without sweat, when there are

airbrushed layers that covers your discoloured skin marks,

when your junk jewellery is making the statement you want it

to make – loud and clear, when your stomach is full and you

are surrounded by admirers, when you have had good rest

and good sleep, when you listen to me and agree to what I

say, I can see who you are pretending to be. I don’t care what

you want me to think about you in these moments.

You see, I want to see and know who you are, when life is not

kind to you.

I care about you when you want to do what you believe is right

and no one cares about that. And I want to know how you deal

with that situation. That is the true you.

I care about you when your soul flutters, I care about what

makes you raise your hands towards heavens as you go down

to your knees with tears of overwhelming gratitude. That ‘you’

will be worth knowing.

I want to know what makes your eyes sparkle and has the capacity to drain darkness of the entire world. That

‘you’ will be worth knowing.

I want to know and I care about what gives you goosebumps that whispers hello to the wind. Thats the ‘you’

worth knowing.

I want to know what will make you fight on the side of the right, be strong against the wrong, what will make you

chase your dreams even if they are ‘silly’, I want to know what will make you overcome doubts and make you

believe in yourself and life. That’s the true ‘you’ I care about.

I care about who you are when no one is watching. That’s the ‘you’ without pretence.

I care about the raw you, the crazy you, the tender you, the vulnerable you, the silly you, the dreamer you, the

child you, and every other you, where you are ‘you’ and not the pretence you.

Show me who you are, when you slip, show me who you are when you are stuck in traffic, show me who you

are when its not your mistake yet you are accused, show me who you are when your trusted people leave you

in the lurch, show me who you are when your tears ruin your mascara, show me who you are when you lose,

show me who you are when your loved one departs, show me who you are when you can laugh recollecting

your embarrassing moments, show me who you are when you have an opportunity to be an epitome of

kindness, gratitude, and humanity that is built from resilience, grace and defeats, show me who you are on

your worst day.

That ‘you’ is who I care about.

When you can smile when you are going through a struggle, you can smile anytime in life. That is what I care

about.

Believe, the true ‘you’ has power, love, serenity and gratitude deep within. Find it, hug it, keep it in front of

your eyes all the time. That ‘you’ is who I care about.

Build your soul with grit.

Lift yourself with enthusiasm.

Give, shamelessly and fearlessly.

Ride through the roller coasters with faith.

People will shout, ‘you can’t’, some will whisper its impossible. You feel feeling a searing pain inside that

screams, ‘give up’. Give your best shot anyways. Keep Moving….

That ‘you’ is who I care about.

Then you are not pretending. You are ‘you’. That is the ‘you’ I care about.

Do you pretend to care and care about ‘pretend’?

Or, do you care about that non-pretence ‘you’ too?
