The First 18 seconds in the opening of the film is a blank black screen with only a woman’s voice in talking. She is apparently in an interview or on the news talking about how they have found the cure for cancer.

This very cleverly draws the reader in from the first second, as they have to listen carefully to find out what will be happening. From this speech you might think the genre is science fiction, and feel hopeful.

From this first bit of text, before the picture comes up, we know how that something must have gone wrong with the cure for cancer from the word ‘survivor’

This sets the scene for science fiction and completely alters your thought of what the film was going to be about. The use of a quote shows that a lot of time has passed from the last scene.

Throughout this clip of the quote there is diagetic sound being played. The sound is very horrifying add builds up allot of tension.

Genre

From the first two images in the film it is clear that something huge has happened, something has gone wrong and cities that should be busy and full of life are empty of people and not maintained.

As well as science fiction Genre. we now expect thriller and adventure.

Titles

The titles have been placed into the images of the city as if they were always there and are part of the building or streets.

Narrative The first five shots are shots of the city and what it now looks like. Each shot averages at about five seconds. There is diagetic sound playing throughout the clips and speech starts on the second. The diagetic sound is very moving and sad, this connotes with the feel of the images being shown. A sense of loneliness is shown through these images as this man is talking.
