GENERAL FACT• Any plan can be grown in a hydrophonix system• Almost any system will produce acceptable

growth• Small scale is entirely different from the culture

of several thousand plants• Has constributed much to understanding plant

growth• Very few comercial producers• Most facilities are experimental studying plant

nutrition

Growers must know

• Most plants are very adaptive• Plants can take a lot of abuse• Plants require a minimum amount of

water, food, vitamins, sleep and proper tempts.

• Each species has its own requirements for maximum growth

Estimate the size of the area you will need.

For example, a combination of 66 cabbage & Silver beet can be grown in 5 pipes of 4 inch round and 3 meters long by 2 meters wide. The whole unit is therefore 6 meters square.

• Evenly mark and space 4 inch holes for the 4 inch pots to be placed in them. For the first 3-4 weeks and in hot climates, shade cloth is helpful if used under these conditions

Watch your plants grow for about 12 - 18 weeks

Help them by keeping pests away and watching for root-rot (when roots go slimy, turn brown and die).

ADVANTAGES

• There is absolutely no soil required.• Water used in the system remains confined and

reused, hence saving costs of watering or irrigation.• Nutrition levels are manually regulated so it’s easy

to save on relative costs.• Production is high and reliable.• Safety from pests and diseases is ensured, much

due to portability of containers.• It’s not as cumbersome and dirt-prone as where

soil is involved.

conclusion

Hydroponic is the method of growing plants in water to which special chemicals are added, rather than growing them in earth. It can be done in our back yard and so forth. Having this system will help our vegetables need. It is not expensive and environmentally safe that every one can do it.
