We make requests using “Can” and “Could”. We use could to make more polite requests. We often use could to make requests to people who are elder to us or senior to us in position. We also use could to make requests to people who are not familiar with. We make requests with could like this:

Could +subject+main verb in the infinitive form without to Could you tell me after an hour? Could me show your Id

Card? We use can to ask for permission to do something. To make

a request to someone, say: Can you+verb+---(add please at the end if you like)
