1 1 How to Import Content into a New Course from an ANGEL Archive So you have an empty course shell. You could start building your content from scratch, or you could import last year’s course content and make adjustments in your new course. Importing course content is preferable to simply copying a course from one term to another because it is a cleaner and more straightforward process. If you exported some of your old ANGEL courses and saved them as ANGEL zip archives, you can restore the data from them into a sandbox or an existing live course shell. You can control what data is restored: Do you want all of your data, including student rosters and grades, or do you only want the course content without student data? Follow these steps to import your ANGEL content archive into the new semester: (1) Locate your archive ZIP file on your computer or on the CD/DVD to which it was saved. (2) Login to ANGEL at https://my.iavalley.edu (3) Find the course into which you will be importing content. (4) Click on the MANAGE tab of the course. How to Import Content into a New Course from an ANGEL Archive So you have an empty course shell. You could start building your content from scratch, or you could import last year’s course content and make adjustments in your new course.Importing course content is preferable to simply copying a course from one term to another because it is a cleaner and more straightforward process.

If you exported some of your old ANGEL courses and saved them as ANGEL zip archives, you can restore the data from them into a sandbox or an existing live course shell. You can control what data is restored: Do you want all of your data, including student rosters and grades, or do you only want the course content without student data?

Follow these steps to import your ANGEL content archive into the new semester:

(1) Locate your archive ZIP file on your computer or on the CD/DVD to which it was saved.(2) Login to ANGEL at https://my.iavalley.edu(3) Find the course into which you will be importing content.(4) Click on the MANAGE tab of the course.(5) Click IMPORT CONSOLE under DATA MANAGEMENT heading.

(6) On the next screen, under Select a content type to import, click on CONTENT PACKAGE.(7) Under Step 1: Specify Content Package to Import, click BROWSE.(8) Locate your archived ZIP file and click OPEN.(9) Click UPLOAD FILE. (This process may take a while. Please be patient.)(10)Once your content is uploaded, you will see a Step 2 of 2: Select Import Options screen. (11)Uncheck the User Data checkbox (see next image) if you don’t want to import your old student

rosters and submissions. (Your new student rosters are populated automatically.)

(12)Scroll to the bottom of the page and click NEXT.(13)Your content import is now queued on the server. Only one course content import is being

performed at a time, so this may take a while, especially towards the beginning of the semester. When your course export has been completed, you should receive an email message from the LMS administrator informing you of the backup completion:

(14)Once the import is completed, under the MANAGE tab, you will see a similar screen:

(15)Congratulations! Your course content has now been imported. Don’t forget to check your MODULES tab for accuracy, adjust dates and set up your gradebook for the new semester!
