Requirements for the visaOnly schools authorized by SAFEA may request the "invitation letter" and a "foreign expert's work certificate". These documents are necessary to obtain the much desired "Z visa" that will allow you to teach English China.

What certificates do I need?It is difficult to give a definitive guide to the certificates needed to teach English in Beijing. The reason is that each province has its own regulation, and the requirements for SAFEA (the main Chinese administration issuing work visas for teachers) are ambiguous.

According to “SAFEA” requirements, an applicant should have:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Have at least 2 years of working experience as an English tutor.

The above requirements are often left open according to interpretation. Many advanced countries hire talented professionals without teaching experience and allow them to settle in their country via Z visa.
