How to Access Databases

MDX subscribes to a number of databases which can help you find very specific information on a subject. This may be a journal or newspaper article, a chapter in a book, interview or report etc. The main databases for Psychology are PsycINFO, Social Sciences Citation Index and for a more bio/neuro slant ScienceDirect.

These databases are not completely full text, which means sometimes you will need to copy and paste the name of the Journal that the article appears in (not the article title) into the library catalogue and do a ‘journal search’ to see if we have e-access. The links in the record will tell you what dates we cover. If the article itself can be downloaded from the database itself you’ll see a PDF symbol.

In Social Sciences Citation Index there are WebBridge links which will link you directly to the article if we have it – so this is a convenient database to use!

1. Log in to “My UniHub 2. Select “My Study”

3. Scroll down to “My Library” 4. Select “Databases”

5. You can select a group of databases (eg ‘Social Sciences’ or ‘Health’) OR one from the A-Z list if you know the name of the database you want to use
