•What would be the role of the educator? •How would we teach •What would be the role of the learner?

•Wayfinding, self-directe How would curriculum be created? Shared? •How would research be conducted?

The main objectives of the School Educational Project (2002-2005) are: to prepare students to live as real citizens and to prepare them for a long life learning.

As far as The School Curricular Project (2003-2004) its main objectives are the cooperative work (how to reinforce), Reading as a pleasure (how to reach it) and Health (how to preserve).

The The GrandSlam projectGrandSlam project and the and the development of the SL/LC Lorosaedevelopment of the SL/LC Lorosae

During three years we’ve learned/shared lots of very important ideas during our meetings/conferences/informal talks:

• The SL is an idea, not a space. All school could/should be a SL/LC

• If the SL closed one day, what would change at school?

• The SL did not happen by chance

• The resources are important , but more important is what you do with them

During three years we’ve learned/shared lots of very important ideas during our meetings/conferences/informal talks:

• Transforming information into knowledge is the main goal of the SL

• We are facing the same challenges in all Europe, concerning Education and the place of the SL at School

• In all Europe we are trying to promote reading habits (reading for fun/pleasure)

The SL/LC has developed a lot of activities in accordance with the GrandSlam main aims (and the School Educational Project )

The Plan of action:

Specifically we will (plan of action)

1.Plan activities in articulation with the pedagogical council and our school curricular project in order to make changes in the school 2.Plan activities in articulation with the curricular departments to promote changes in curricular approaches.3.Plan and practise “small scale” projects with other GrandSlam partners, in order to investigate new learning styles and to set up offers for special user groups.4.Promote training for the users of the Learning Centre (teachers/students). 5.Make guides for the users of the Learning Centre.6.Buy basic equipment in order to support new learning styles7.Share our “best practices” with the other partners of the Grand Slam Project.

In order to ensure that the proposal for the students’ use of ICT technology at least when they present their final work, and to make the integration of ICT easier in their learning activities (as approved by the Pedagogical Council on the 6th November) the SL/LC supported /promoted:

An example – The use of ICT

Page 37: How I developed my school library the GrandSlam way

An example – The use of ICT The activity called “A window for the

world” has been continued with good results (see www.eb123-charneca-caparica.rcts.pt). (Each week a class had to provide a Power Point Presentation about a chosen topic).

Statistics show how SL/LC had an important role to achieve the School Project and SL/LC targets:

Put the students in touch with new technologies, using ICT in their learning as a condition to get success in a changing society Reading pleasure- How to succeed?

It means that we can organize our school in some fields in a different way trying to promote the students’ success.

It was the end of a evaluating process of my school in which the SL was also included.

Last year my school and more nineteen schools (in a total of 7000 schools) signed the first “autonomy contracts” in my country.
