How do I find e-books & e-journals?
This presentation explains how to access the library’s e-resources via:
• STC Live• Shibboleth login – accessing e-resources off-campus• the library catalogue
STC Live
Username: student ID numberDefault password: PASSDDMMYY (PASS + date of birth)
To use the library’s e-resources you will need to log onto STC Live at http://south-thames.blackboard.com/
From the library homepage on STC Live, you can navigate directly to the library’s e-resources by clicking on the e-books & e-journals link.
Shibboleth login
Shibboleth
This only applies If you are accessing our e-resources off-campus. You will be asked on an additional screen to sign in as a South Thames College student via Shibboleth.
Please note, Shibboleth can also be called Federated Access Management and organisational or institutional login.
Having selected South Thames College as your organisation, you will then be asked to sign in with your student network login and password.

Credo Reference is a collection of dictionaries & encyclopedias in many subject areas, including:

dawsonera provides access to textbooks in many subjects in e-book format. These can be read online or downloaded as PDFs (with restrictions).
Please see dawsonera’s extensive help pages for more information regarding restrictions on copying and printing of materials.
ebrary is a core collection of e-textbooks specially chosen for FE colleges as part of the e-books for FE project.

InfoTrac provides access to journal and newspaper articles dating from 1980 to the present day.

The library catalogue
You can search for e-books on the library catalogue by clicking on Guided Search and selecting E-Book from the Type of media drop-down menu.
The library catalogue is accessible from the library’s homepage on STC Live.
Click on the title links for e-books of interest…
Clicking on the Resource link will take you directly to the e-book. (If you are off-campus you will be asked to sign in via Shibboleth before accessing the e-book.)
Finally, clicking on the Online Resources A-Z link from the library’s homepage on STC Live will take you to a complete list of all our e-resources.
