In this establishing shot, we are inside a wheat farm following a blue butterfly. The movement is slow and steady with a relaxing non-diegetic score in the background. This suggests that nothing has happened yet which can add tension as the audience can’t tell if something big is about to happen. Additionally, the colours in the scene have been edited so everything apart from the butterfly looks almost grey. This therefore makes the butterfly stand out more as it is blue which could suggest that the hero in the film is in a field of darkness like the butterfly.

In this close-up shot, we see what seems to be the protagonist claiming he was murdered however as he is alive in the shot, we presume this is before he was murdered. Moreover, the idea of the character being murdered but still speaking makes the audience a bit confused but still tense as they now know he is eventually going to be murdered. Additionally, the scene now contains diegetic and non-diegetic music as the character is speaking and the score is still quietly on in the background.

In this close-up shot, the scene has switched to the protagonist laying in what seems to be his bed in a similar positon to what he was in in the last shot. This means that the shot has been specifically edited to create an effect on the audience. Also, the shot has low-key lighting which makes it harder for the audience to see if anything is coming which creates tension. As well, there is narration coming from the protagonist which is non-diegetic as the speech is narration.

In this side-on shot, we see the protagonist with blood on his face meaning that he is badly injured. Moreover, he is looking up to the soldiers with a desperate look as they say they are going to let one of them go. Additionally, the speech from the soldiers is diegetic sound and the score which was previously in the background playing quietly is not playing anymore meaning that there is no non-diegetic sound in the scene. This adds a sense of realism to the shot as you can only hear what you can see which therefore makes the scene more attractive to the audience as the sound seems real.

In this worms-eye-view shot, we see the protagonist sitting on the floor eating while the soldier stands with a gun aimed at him. This represents the power the soldier has over the protagonist as the solider is higher up than the protagonist and also has a gun aimed at him. Also, the shot has high-key lighting as it is in the day so which makes the shot brighter. As-well, the protagonist has started narrating again which

In this close-up shot, we see the butterfly again we saw at the start of the short film. However, the colour of the butterfly now is a lot darker which could represent the evil of death as the protagonist has just been murdered. This means that the film attempts to leave a message to the audience saying that murder is wrong and evil by using the butterfly to represent this as it used to be bright but after death has been darkened.
