What is healthy life?? It seems everywhere we look these days there is some sort of promotion or advertisement about good health and lifestyle. Well you may ask yourself what exactly does the phrase refer to? Basically it involves having the right mind-set, good healthy balanced diet and regular exercise.. We don’t have to join the gym or become vegetarians, but achieving a healthy lifestyle is simple and it’s entirely our own responsibility.

Fasting  Fasting during the month of Ramadan from dawn till dusk, is undertaken to seek the pleasure of God and to practise self control and restraint in all aspects of living.

Everyone needs to sleep. A good night’s sleep helps keep your mind and body healthy. Most adults need 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. If you are having trouble sleeping, make changes to your routine to get the sleep you need.

Kids need even more sleep than adults.•Teens need at least 9 hours of sleep each night.•School-aged children need at least 10 hours of sleep each night.•Pre-schoolers sleep between 11 and 12 hours a day.•New-borns sleep between 16 and 18 hours a day.

Now some of us do have hectic lifestyles where we are on our feet most of the day keeping active, others have more sedentary lifestyles, sometimes by career but often by choice.

Try not to skip breakfastEating breakfast provides us with energy as well as some important nutrients that we need for good health.For example, a healthy breakfast of wholegrain cereal and a glass of fruit juice, will give our body the energy and nutrients it needs to start the day.If you skip breakfast, you are more likely to fill up on snacks that are high in fat and/or sugar as you get hungry before lunch.

Drink plenty of waterAround 2/3 of our body is made up of water.Drinking enough water each day helps prevent headaches and dehydration.Remember not to drink too many soft or carbonated drinks that are high in sugar.

Drink Green TeaHot or iced, green tea can help rev up your workout. Its catechins, antioxidants, and caffeine help increase the metabolic generation of heat. Drink a cup about 10 minutes before exercising.

Eat lots of fruit and vegetablesTry to eat at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables every day. Fruit and vegetables provide lots of vitamins, minerals and fibre which our bodies need to function properly.

Conclusion Healthy living is a combination of many things, including good

nutrition, regular exercise and a positive attitude. Taking care of your body and feeling pride in your accomplishments can improve both your physical and mental health.

There are many things you can do to improve your quality of life - improving your diet and exercising regularly are two of the easiest steps. No matter how small you start (adding an apple a day to your diet or walking 5 more minutes a day), you can make a change and an improvement in your life.
