  • 2. + Mission : The program believes that all families and childrendeserve the opportunity to develop maintain healthy andflourishing life. Head Start offers a pre-school program for 3-5 year old childrenin Cortland County at no cost. Early Head Start is for low income families with infants,toddlers, pregnant women and their families. The programpromotes healthy prenatal outcomes, promote healthy familyfunctioning, and development of young children. Have 2separate programs : Home Based and Center Based
  • 3. +Overview cont. Serve pregnant woman andinfants Home visit once a week withthe services of prenatal care,prenatal education,breastfeeding. Expectant parents will attend asupport group twice a month Plan activities for the family tohelp the childrensdevelopment, family literacy,healthy relationships, parentingsupport and education. Serves 8 infants, 48 toddlers upuntil 3 years old in classroomsacross the Cortland Community The centers run Monday toFriday for 6 hours. With 2teachers and one familyadvocate. Children are provided nutritionalmeals A family advocate meets withthe family at home once amonth to check in and modifygoals.Home Based Center Based

These programs should be spread throughout the country tobenefit all families who would benefit from their services, it willgive our children a brighter future for those it didnt seempossible.
