Halloween is a festival which happens once a year on the
31st of October. It is celebrated in lots of different
countries, especially in England. Children dress up in different scary costumes and
go ‘trick or treating. Halloween is one of my
favourite english traditions.
Origins
• Halloween comes from the Celtic tradition. On the night of October 31, it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.
There are lots of different Halloween costumes in England, and the children have lots of fun dressing up with their friends. The most common Halloween costumes are:
A scary witch A black catThe devil
I celebrate Halloween every year, even now at
University. Usually I dress up as a red devil or a black cat, but last year me and my
best friend dressed up as bats. Here is a
picture for you to look at.
It’s very common in England to have a Halloween party.
This means wearing scary costumes,
playing games like ‘bob the apple’ and
decorating the house with spooky
decorations like cobwebs and lots of
fake blood!
