Major Component - RSS Feeds

The Internet…

The Pros:Individual access to a world of informationQuick communicationA wealth of knowledge somewhere out there…

The Cons:How do you sort and filter a “world of information”Endless searching for meager or low quality resultsLabour intensive… (you mean I have to find it??)Suitability and Authenticity

With the RSS (Rich Site Summary) technology, the web became a place where information could be pushed to surfers…

Users don’t have to go to it, it comes to them.

And best of all…. We can control what we get!

Hybrid Courses

Hybrid courses are courses designed as on-line courses that are used, in some form, in a face to face classroom.

Page 31: GSCS - Linking it all together

Hybrid Models1.) Facilitator in the class, use the online

material as a guide to classroom instruction. Credit is offered from face to face school.

2.) Hybrid is used as an additional resource to supplement in-class instruction. Students can write online exams in place of face to face.

3.) Use units of online class or learning objects in F2F, using tools for communication tools to extend F2F discussions.

Page 32: GSCS - Linking it all together

Hybrid Models4.) Students taking different online

courses in a single F2F classroom, with a single instructor.
