I want my students to understand that:
• Concept: Modification• Content Specific: From the colonial era to the 19th century through
slides of Greenwich Village architecture. How our neighborhood has become the historic place it is today?
• Global Statement: “As man interacts with his physical an social environment, both he and the environment are changed” (Taba, 1971).

• I want my students to understand that: • Concept: Values• Content Specific: Personal identity is shaped by one's culture, by groups, and by
institutional influences.• Global Statement: “Those objects, behaviors, ideas, or institutions or an individual
considers important and desires, constitute values” (Taba, 1971)

• Why is the past important to us today?
• What connections are there between the past, present, and future?
• How does our community change?
• How are historic, cultural or world regions defined by physical and human characteristics?
• How do people interact with the historical, cultural or world regional environment?
• How do people interact with their home, school, community and
regional environments?
