The Sudden beginning. People crowd the bank to withdraw as much of their savings. Few were successful.

Lining up.Men line up in a breadline to receive free food since they cannot afford bread.

Trying to make a living.This man is selling apples for only 5 cents hoping that he would make enough money to feed himself and his family.

MEANWHILE, ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE NATION:

The storm risingA dust cloud formed from a decade of bad farming of the soil approaches a small town ready to coat it in dust.

The aftermath.A Kansas farm shortly after a dust storm came through.

Road to the promise land?A overloaded truck traveling to California where there could be jobs available.

A promiseA man stares at a sign that promises work at an orange orchard but at what pay?

At workA group of men pick cotton from the field in which they would get paid based on how heavy their bag is.

ShelterA “Hooverville” in California where many migrant workers ended up staying due to them not having enough money.

MANY PEOPLE PROTESTED THE DEPRESSION IN MANY WAYS.

The marchUnemployed workers marching in protest against the bad economy.

Sit DownWorld War 1 veterans stay in front of the capitol building in Washington D.C. in hopes of getting early bonus from the government that would help them in their living.

One people, one voice.People gather up in wall street to protest against the down economy.

BUT EVEN SO, ALL PROTESTS ENDED THE SAME WAY:

Violence eruptsFarmers in Nebraska protesting against the foreclosure of their farms are dispersed by local authorities.

Crowd controlPolicemen try to break up a union strike that is protesting for equal workers rights.
