Outline• Journey through time• Three different story lines at different points in time, which all fit together with some sort of jigsaw effect.• A story about a piece of art (Graffiti) which an art dealer, John McGrass happens to stumble across.• John is the catalyst in the story. The opening scene John on the phone to his boss about an art convention coming up. If

John doesn't get an artist to do him a piece of street art for the display he’ll lose his job. Half way through the conversation he notices a large piece of graffiti which has a mixture of both style and emotion which would be perfect for his convention. He instantly gets on the phone and tries to find the person who made this piece of art.

• The piece of art represents a boy named James Harpers mum, Ruby. James was a troubled child who was raised under circumstances of domestic violence and even child abuse towards him. In the second story line you see what his childhood was like, and how he used to show his emotion through his drawings where he used to draw images of his mum. All he ever wanted was for his mum to be happy.

• The final story line is just him creating the unrecognized masterpiece in respect for his mum who has passed away. We don’t know as an audience what happened to his mum but we assume the worst as the final shot is just a long shot of the wall he was painting on with just one empty can of spray paint and one bundle of flowers in the bottom left corner of the shot. As James leaves the shot from the left of the shot, John enters from the left in the same shot somewhat 20 seconds later. The length of the shot gives the audience time to think about what could've happened to his Mum and where his dad is now, but mainly creates emotion.

John McGrass• He’s a clumsy art dealer who has struggled to find art in time for his

art convention.• Similar to the character Hal from Malcolm in the Middle.• Quirky, funny, lovable, you want him to do well but you don’t think he

will.

James Harper• James is a very cool calm character, never says much as a child, and doesn’t say

anything when you see him later on as a teenager. • All he cares about is his mum being happy, but he as a quiet kid he doesn’t seem

like he can do anything to help. • He shows his emotion through art, but people just appreciate the art but not

what it means. • In some ways very similar to Ryan Goslings ‘Luke’ in A Place Beyond The Pines. A

misunderstood charctor who is really very warm hearted which the audience show effection towards.

Ruby Harper• A loving Mum who has found herself in a horrible situation, trying to raise her son

right but her husband his making her life very difficult. He beats her and abuses her but she tries to stay poitive so she doesn’t show her son she’s sad, but he knows. • You don’t see much of Ruby and never see her husband, just hear him and see

the aftermath of what he’s done. • In ways shes like the female version of Will Smiths Christopher in the Pursuit of

Happiness as all he wants is just the best for his son, and tries to hide the bad parts of the world from him.
