Presentation at UAF TechFest 2013. My talk was about Google Glass and how it could be or is being used in education. Trying to get educators excited about the possibilities for innovation in wearable technology within higher education.

types of apps

1. the officially supported Glassware - a subscription service that runs via the Mirror API and can exchange information between a server app and your Google Glass

2. the native Android Apps for Google Glass - can be “side loaded” in google glass via ADB (Android Debug Bridge), a toolkit included in the Android SDK

Glass App Control Center available for Android only - can do live screencasting.

Google announced a Glass App store is on the way

• microphone doesn’t pick up voices far away or with loud ambient noise

• can’t hang out with more than one contact at a time

• contacts limited to 10

• prescription glasses

• limited apps to try

• hotspot tethering

• battery life

- for video longer than 10 seconds, get the video started and then click again
