there teens and twenties. He is also

grime genre of the music video.

twitter, a vast majority of his

fan base appears to be

female.

prison).

A lot of Gigg’s ,and artists of the same genre, music is played

on the radio station BBC 1Xtra.

The BBC service website states that ‘The remit of 1Xtra is to

play the best in contemporary black music with a strong

emphasis on live music and supporting new UK artists. The

schedule should also offer a bespoke news service, regular

discussion programmes and specially commissioned

documentaries relevant to the young target audience (15–24

year olds), particularly, although not exclusively, those from

ethnic minorities’

Choice FM:

As well as the previous example, Choice FM also

plays a lot of music from UK artists such as Giggs.

They are vague with their target audience, only

stating ‘young people interested in urban culture as

their listeners.

Giggs has founded his own record label called SN1

Entertainment. The major releases on this label are

Giggs debut album, Walk in Da Park, and Joe

Grind’s – Not Your Average Joe. In addition to using

his own record label, Giggs also uses the XL

Recordings.

XL Recording is a British independent record label.

The label has grown into one of the most

commercially successful and influential independent

record labels in the world.
