Georgia O'Keeffe was born on November 15, 1887, in a farmhouse near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin (USA)
By age ten she had decided to become an artist. She loved painting and drawing.
O'Keeffe studied at the School of Art Institute of Chicago and at the Art Students League in New York.
Her earlier work was mostly abstract.

After 1949 she lived in New Mexico where she collected rocks and bones from the desert floor and made them
subjects in her work.
