Setting

OAll of the four films I chose each establish the beginning of the film with an extreme long shot to give the film it’s setting.

Transformers establishing shot shows us the stars. The camera then pans

down to an extreme long shot and we see a warzone but not like one on earth.

This tells us that this war is happening in space. Big clues are big explosions,

fast moving space ships of course, giant robots.

Terminator 2’s establishing shot show us several long

shots of a busy city, including traffic jams, big crowds crossing the road and children playing in a

play park, though this part isn't a long shot/ The

narrator then explains how judgment day happened

and then were shown what LA looks like years into the

future. Were shown extreme long shots of

destroyed LA with everything covered in ash.

The establishing shot of State of Play is the sound of

police sirens and a helicopter which is most

probably a police one. Were then shown a extreme long

shot of a city landscape, would could indicate that

the film is set downtown of the city where it could have a high crime rate. Because

the film’s genre is action/crime.

The establishing shot of predator is of space again, we know this because we can see a planet which we immediately think is earth.

We can also see a spaceship slowly

approaching the camera. At this point we are unsure if it is a good or a bad guy. We then go down to earth and we have a long shot of a Heuy helicopter that is

coming towards the shore dropping off Arnie to do his

job.
