Audio/visual codes• Both films are set in the countryside that connotes isolation in

which reflects the protagonist. This also reflects the sense of realism that we wanted to delineate.

• Our audio is not stereotypical of the genre as teen dramas usually have an upbeat sound, where as our non-diegetic sound was more emotional to further communicate the themes within our narrative.

StyleThe style of our teaser was very simplistic as we wanted to communicate a sense of realism to our film. We had a variety of camera shots and continuously used basic cut and fade transitions in our editing as we aimed to have our audience focus upon the characters and themes within our film, and therefore we had a very natural approach.

Narrative

IconographyThe diary is our iconography

Genre is shown through out iconography as this is a typical teenage item. The diary is a significant symbol as it gives the audience a unique insight to the characters thoughts and communicates issues in which are mainly situated with teenagers.

Characters As we researched teen dramas we found that

they conventionally delineate stereotypes. Our protagonist went against this idea as we wanted all members of our target audience to relate to her. Our protagonist has similarities with Hazel as they both suffer from health issues and are somewhat seen as isolated from society.
