Geo-Education in Action
Four Geoparks from four different countries with different experiences in geo-education and different Vocational Training and Accreditation national systems definetogether the requirements of Professional training in GeoEducation .

Leonardo da Vinci is a European Union action
programme which:
intends to improve vocational education and training in Europe and funds, inter alia, international pilot projects for developing innovative
vocational training courses.
These projects result in innovative education and training productsfor vocational education – not only initial vocational education, butalso in-service training and vocational training for unemployed people.

Programme in details
Project‘s Objectives
Define the requirements needed for vocational educational training and certification of qualifications in GeoEducational activities .
Establish the requirements for vocational educational training, qualifications certification in Geoeducational activities;
Compliance of GeoEducational vocational training programmes with the National/European Qualification Framework;
Link GeoEducational activities and trainers with the labor market.
Develop common standards and tools for vocational educational training in the field of GeoEducation ;
Creation of a network of GeoEducation players , made of employers(Geoparks)museums, (NHMLPF) universities (Aegean University) and representatives of local administrator and labor market (Durham county Council - AONB).
Documentation on national requirements of qualification in GeoEducation activities
Project ‘s Approach
Exchange of experiences between the GEA partners (meetings, seminars, workshops etc)
Design and conduct seminars at European level to valorize and transfer good-practices
in vocational educational training in Geoeducation
Produce and disseminate a Common Geopark Guide Book ‚Geo-Educational Methodology.
Development and implement training packages structure for a common training course in GeoEducation
Disseminate the results through the European Network Geoparks and Unesco – Earth Division

Offered GeoEducational vocational training
activities from GEA partners.
Project partners will present today their offered vocational GeoEducationaltraining activities that they apply within their Geopark territory. EachProject partner will sent to the project coordinator a document with thefollowing:
a. Steps to design, conduct, evaluate and disseminate efficiently Vocational Training Programmes in GeoEducation
b. Tools and methods that assist its Vocational Training activities in Geoeducation.(eg.Groupdiscussions, case studies etc.)
c. Their Best practices examples in the field of Vocational GeoEducational Training.
d. EU tools - followed by a short description - that partners use to certify Vocational Training in Geoeducation.
e. Dissemination channels in National, European and Global Level (eg. Conferences, Journal, Magazines etc.)

Vocational Training Center – LMLPF will conduct two internationaltraining seminars in order to implement and test
1. the developed educational materials
2. and the new training methodology that designed and introduced fromGEA partners.
The first international seminar will be held on 24 June in Lesvos.

Glossary of Geoeduacational terms
North Pennines AONB Parterships is proposed to design a glossaryarranged in alphabetical order, which will introduce geological terms andexpressions related to Vocational Geoeducational Activities.
The intension of this glossary will be to familiarize newcomers with keyterms and expressions in the field of Geology and GeoEducation. Theglossary will appear at the end of Common Geoparks Guide Book ‚ Geo-Educational Methodology‛.

Communication and dissemination plan of the
project results .
It is important for the impact of the project to spread the message to certain target grops via one or more channels.
So we need to set out a dissemination strategy , to define the activities of the dissemination plan, to define the target groups and the dissemination channels.
BEIGUA Natural Park is proposed to be responsible of the proper design and implementation of the dissemination plan.

Its is proposed VTC- NHMLPF in order ensure the coherence of the individual documents to create and circulate the progress report.

Each partner will create a report describing the requirements needed for trainees professional qualification and certification in National Level.
AGA Partner will create a database to organize and store these reports. Besides, he will define ways to allocate the skills acquainted from the International Seminars to EQF, ECVET and the EUROPASS documents

Quality management framework of the
vocational training activities.
In order to asses the effectiveness of the vocational training activities, toimprove the quality of the training and to determine whether theparticipants have acquired the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessaryto do their jobs it is crucial to define the monitoring and evaluationactivities are conducted.
Beigua National park is proposed to define the methods of assessment toensure the quality of the offered training activities (eg.questionnaire, interviews, oral sharing etc.). The quality managementframework will also be a part of the Common Geopark Guide.

Creation of Common Geoparks Guide Book “
Geo-Educational Methodology.
The knowledge and experiences gained throughout the programme andinternational seminars will be the content of a common Geopark Guidebook entitled ‚GeoEducational Methodology‛.
This guide book intents to become a valuable source of information and areference point for similar initiatives in Vocational Training in GeoEducationactivities among the Geoparks Network.
It is proposed VTC-NHMLPF to create the guidebook.
