Thread PackageThread is sold by length and is sold in a variety of types of packages to the thread type and its own use.

1. Spool:

• Smallest Package• Flanged bobbin packages, once made by wood but now with plastic.• Largely used for domestic sewing.• Used to a small extent on slower industrial machines.

• Parallel wound on to package.

• Not suitable for delivery thread to high speed industrial machines.

• Around all types of thread are wound as the spool except textured thread.

Thread Length: 100 to 500 m, relatively short length.

2. Cop:

• Small, cylindrical, flangeless tubes on which thread is wound crosswise.

• Not suitable to use in high speed industrial machines.

• Widely used in fashionable garments manufacturing.

• Around all threads are wound in this package except glazed thread and fine filament.

Thread Length: 1000 to 2500 m.

3. Cone:• This is angular hollow plastic tube on which

thread is wound cross-wise.

• Around all types of threads are generally wound and supplied with this package.

• Give trouble free thread delivery at intermittent or continuous high speed.

• Ideal thread package in garments industry.

• Well suited to automatic machines.

Thread Length: 5000 m or more.

4. Vicone:

• Parallel tubes or low angled cones with an additional base in the form of a raised flange which may incorporate a small lip.

• Contains polished or continuous filament thread.

• Less possibility of thread wrapping with the package stand at loose condition due to lipped flange.

Thread Length: Variable.

5. Large Package:

• Used on over edge and cover stitch machine.

• Used for spun or core spun threads wound on large cones or tubes.

6. Container:

• Very large package.

• Used to wound filament threads.

• Used for that filament thread which are not controllable in normal thread packages.

• Have an arrangement to apply lubricant on to the thread during unwinding.

7. Cocoon:

• Self supporting, centerless thread packages.

• Specially designed for insertion in the shuttle of multi-needle quilting machines and some types of embroidery machines.

8. Pre-wound Bobbin:• Precision wound thread packages can replace

metal bobbin.

• Bobbin changing time reduced.

• Smoother unwinding.

• Improve efficiency and quality of production.

• A variety of thread type is available pre-wound.

• A variety of sizes to fit most lock stitch machines.
