DESCRIPTION
In December of 2013 I delivered funds and school supplies purchased thanks to the fund raising efforts of Stands for School. Stands for School is a non-profit project where children raise money through lemonade stands to support a village school in Kouya Sidia, Guinea, Africa. It was inspired by a 5-year old boy's simple suggestion to start a lemonade stand to help a friend from the village. He set up on the side of the road in New Hampshire, and from here the word spread. In the end over $2,600 was raised, and every penny went to fund essential supplies for the village of Kouya Sidia. This slide show is the opening for a longer presentation about the trip and ways people can continue to help. This grassroots effort was amazingly successful. Purchases included 160 school uniforms, (required to attend in Guinea), over 4000 pencils, 140 personal chalkboards, over 4000 pieces of chalk, 160 backpacks, 180 pairs of shoes, and much more.
