Spring into Reuse with FREEGLE FREE Giving, Locally, Easily.

www.iLoveFreegle.org

2012 Climate Week Award finalist.

Freegle is a UK network of online reuse groups run by

local volunteers helping to reduce waste. We make it easy

to share resources within a community. Our groups are

free to join and to use. All goods listed on the site are free for the taking. Members who have an item they

no longer want, offer it on the group and someone local who can make use of it will arrange to collect it.

Don't throw it away! Give it away! 330 groups in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

HELP us get the nation to SPRING into REUSE “Current levels of re-use create financial savings to households of around £1 billion and reduce CO2

equivalent emissions by one million tonnes – the same as taking 300,000 cars off the road.”*

Please add a link to Freegle on the Council web site. Freegle groups are often listed under Recycling on

Council websites but it would be great to have a REUSE page and list us there too. We know our community

service is particularly helpful for dealing with bulky items and household furniture. If you have communications

for residents about what to do with a sofa or washing machine, or other resources for Council tenants then it’d

be great to get a link to our Freegle group in those places too.

Recycling points, Bins and the TIP! Could we put up a banner? Give out postcards? Put stickers on bins? Have a

Freegle storage area? Join in a Council community event to promote our free local waste reduction service?

Residents and Local Business Freegle really comes into its own when people are moving house or office.

Freegling makes it easy to clear clutter, get and give away moving boxes and to help get essential goods when

setting up a new home or business.

Could you add us to information you send out when processing student, new and final council tax accounts?

And please do pass on all this Freegle information to your Housing, Planning and Community Officers.

This is a simple way of giving out information to locals that will reduce fly tipping, assist those economically

challenged and help small businesses. Freegle saves the Council money and benefits communities -so please

help spread the word! We hope Council staff know about us and start freegling too.

Schools particularly benefit from belonging to a Freegle group. Freegle can be the source of art & craft

materials, costumes for the latest drama extravaganza or for supplies to make a veggie plot. Please tell local

schools, nurseries and your eco-schools programme about us. Freegle really helps young people understand

the value of things and how to conserve resources – it’s never too soon to start reusing and upcycling!
