Hi, my name is Frank and I’m a Frilled Neck Lizard, but I can also be called a Dragon Lizard. I used to be famous back in the day, I was that beautiful creature on the

Australian two cent coin but then they got rid of the two

cent coin. Anyway today I’m going to tell you a bit about

me!

A little bit about me!

Who am I?

Well I have already told you my name is Frank and I was once famous as I posed for the Australian two cent coin. I am also famous in the frilled lizard community for having the best frill, and I won the Fastest Frill Neck Feet race when I was 3. So I am pretty famous.

What am I?

I am one of Australia’s most iconic reptiles. I have three different names, one is the Frilled Neck Lizard, second is the Frilled Dragon and the third is the Frilled Lizard, but you can call me Frank. My fellow frilled neck friends and I are generally about 70 to 90 centimetres in length and we all have a ‘frill’ around our necks and weigh up to 500 grams. Our frill is folded out when we are scared and we open our mouths.

Where I come from and where I like to hangout

My fellow Frilled Neck friends and I spend around 90% of our time up in trees.

You can find me in dry forests and woodlands in both the north-western parts of Australia and Papua New Guinea!

This is me posing in the tree that my friends and I hangout in most days. I think I

look pretty cool here.

I am active during the day; I am not nocturnal.

I rely on the sun to warm my blood which is why I live where I do.

My fellow frilled neck family members and I are coloured differently according to where we live; if we are from Queensland we are yellow and black with white marks, if we are from the Northern Territory, we are orange with red, black and white marks.
