Who is Frank Big Bear?• Frank Big Bear was born in 1953 in Detroit Lakes MN and grew up on and

around the White Earth Reservation. He has lived and worked in Minneapolis since 1968.

• Big Bear received the 2008 Bush Foundation Enduring Vision Award as well as the Bush Artist Fellowship Award in 1998 and 1986. His work has been shown locally, nationally and internationally. His work is in the collections of The British Museum, London, England; Walker Art Center; Minneapolis Institute of Arts; Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, Minneapolis; Tweed Museum of Art, Duluth; Plains Art Museum, Fargo; North Dakota Museum of Art, Grand Forks ND; Minnesota Museum of American Art, St. Paul; Minnesota Historical Society, St. Paul.
