Game Title Forza Horizon 2

Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have been used to create specific soundtrack elements

Setting The setting is on a farmer’s field with rolled up hay all around the car, the sun is just setting and it is the perfect setting. Except that it looks like there is about to be a storm.

The car engine revs and you hear the sound of the almighty v10 Lamborghini engine roar. I believe that this sound was created by setting up microphones around a car and then revving the car. Then it was touched up so that it sounded how they wanted it to sound.

Mood The mood is relaxed and upbeat like there isn’t a car in the world and all that there is, is the car and the field.

At the beginning the music is quite relaxed but then when the music stops and all you hear is the car there is a certain thrill that comes along with that. Then once the car has drove off it all goes silent then you hear thunder which slightly intensifies the scene.

Game genre Racing, Simulation. Car roars are normally used in the racing genre but to make it feel like you are there fits nicely in with the simulation aspect of the game because when the car revs it feels so real and it shows how sound can influence a game.

Narrative The setting is Europe and there is a lot of open road to drive along and a lot of races to be won. The aim becomes the most respected driver at the Horizon festival.

The game is made from all of the sound around you. It is a key element in order for the game to feel real and engulf you in your surroundings.
