Fort Bragg: Primary Sources
By Ashley BopstEDUC 415
Braxton Bragg
I chose this picture so that my students could see who Braxton Bragg was. Also, it shows him wearing a Confederate uniform.
Barracks at Camp Bragg; 1919
I chose this picture so that students may see how barracks looked in 1919. I would compare this photo with a recent photo of barracks at Fort Bragg.
Fort Bragg Soldiers
I chose this picture to see how different the way of living has changed since WWII.
Hospital
I chose this picture to show how big the hospital was on post. I would have added a picture of the current hospital, but didn’t go back to Fort Bragg last weekend =(.

This is an interview about how WWII helped the agriculture economy from a woman named Lauch Faircloth. She briefly talks about how Fort Bragg’s large population gave more economic opportunities to others.
Mary Turner Lane Interview: About the Draft during WWIIAudio of Interview: http://docsouth.unc.edu/sohp/playback.html?
base_file=L-0039&duration=05:09:44
I chose this interview because it also briefly talks about the draft during WWII at Fort Bragg.
NC Historical Marker
I chose this picture because it shows a brief history about Fort Bragg. Also, students could know the meaning of these signs and why they are all significant.
Visit the Museum
This is a photo of the 82nd Airborne museum that has a lot of Fort Bragg’s history in it. I chose this picture so students could visit it one day or we could take a class field trip.
