The Medicine Wheel – 4 Colours

If one of these gets out of balance it affects all the others.- the 4 directions – North/White; South/Red; East//Yellow; West/Black

If you are standing in the centre of the circle watching the sun rise you wouldfirst see the yellow glow on the horizon and the sky behind you would be dark.

The shape of the Medicine Wheel (Circle) represents many things – it is the same shape as the Sun, Moon, Earth. The Circle of Life:-At birth you are at the bottom and go around the circle and end where you began-While you are at the bottom of the circle, your parents are at the top. As you gradually move to the top, your parents move to the bottom. They took care of you, now you must take care of them-the circle also represents Peace and Harmony and that we all live within a circle and therefore we must care for each other. “All My Relations” as the Elders say means everything related to you living on Mother Earth, from the smallest being to the largest

The Eagle Feather

From the centre of the circle rises the Eagle Feather. It comes from the bird that flies closest to the Creator. The centre, or quill, of the feather represents the path of Life. As you travel through Life you know from your Life's teachings this is where you should walk. The ground is solid here.
