INTRODUCTIONFloating architecture is the architecture capable of floating in the water and maintaining a functional floor height above the water surface when exposed to high tide or flood.

AIM

The aim of this study is to review the concept of sustainability & floating architecture. To investigate the sustainable characteristics through realized and planned floating architectures. To suggest some reference materials for new building projects around waterside.

FLOATING MARINAS

MARINAA marina (from Spanish [maina], Portuguese [main] and Italian [marina]: marina, "coast" or "shore") is a dock or basin with moorings and supplies for yachts and small boats. A marina differs from a port in that a marina does not handle large passenger ships or cargo from freighters. The word marina is also used for inland wharves on rivers and canals that are used exclusively by non-industrial pleasure craft such as canal narrowboats

MARINAS utilizes patented rubber connectors. Their benefits include: Superior rough water capabilities: as they were originally developed forthe aquaculture industry Silent: even in the roughest conditions Free movement: no contact between concrete, steel & rubber Restrained forces: by connectors steel bolt Virtually no maintenance: no need to tighten whaler bolts Simple: requires minimal assembly

FLOATING WAVE ATTENUATORS

Habitentis a compact, easy to erect, adjustable cockpit enclosure designed to fit a wide range of sailing boats without the need of permanent fixings to enhance your yachting outdoor living enjoyment; giving shelter from the sun, wind and rain and providing a versatile low cost option to cumbersome traditional sailing boat cockpit canopies and boom tents.
