WoK One: Swimming
Swimming has been around since 3rd grade
Regardless of my views now, I know I will always have an appreciation for the sport
Best thing are the meets
Emotional feeling afterward of the accomplishment
WoK One
Why I chose swimming Swimming for a long time
Something I enjoyed
What does swimming say about me? I’m a competitive swimmer
I’m highly passionate about doing well
Lots of emotions go into competitive swimming
WoK One
What have I learned in class is Emotion
Helps me strive for better PB and keeps me competitive
Emotional stability of my peers to continue
There are a few primary emotions that go into swimming as a whole Happiness (i.e when you get a PB or medals)
Sadness (i.e when you don’t make your times, or work as hard as you wanted)
Anger (i.e when you realize that you gained a couple of seconds to your PB)
Surprise (i.e when you didn’t expect to come first)
WoK Two: Photography
Very strong passion and have an interest to pursue a career in visual arts/ photography
Have taken classes since 10th
grade
Did an internship in the summer of ‘10 working at a hospital in Doncaster, UK
Medical photography, though it is not a high interest
WoK Two
Why did I choose photography? High interest in pursuing and expanding
my knowledge
Really enjoy every minute (shooting and editing)
Passion for the art
Photography says that… I am a passionate photographer
I can express myself with-out the use of language
I have very different intentions for all the work I have done
WoK Two
What I learned in class is
Emotion
Art gives a much different emotion than swimming, community service or academic work
Lots of primary emotions
Happiness (i.e when a shoot turns out the way it was planned)
Fear (i.e that the idea or concept is too challenging to finish)
Anger (i.e when a project isn’t completed, or it has to be re-done)
Surprise (i.e while editing- new colours, textures etc)
WoK Two
Perception
How the intent of the artist vs. the perception of the audience
Perception can be altered by cultural aspects or the ways someone has been raised
Belief
For the future
What do I know about myself that will help my knowledge in the future
Photography
Perceptions on things may be drastically different
I will take this into consideration
Beliefs on certain aspects may be stronger than mine
Express primary emotions as a theme in photography
For the future
What things can I improve on for next year?
Photography
Will definitely take into consideration the different perceptions
Really try and blend the different emotions to make pieces stronger
Just have fun and try new things, yet still considering the WoK
