Fields of Study (Part 3)

EconomicsFields of Study

Economics is the social science that seeks to describe the factors which determine the production, distribution and consumption of goods and services.

GeographyFields of Study

Geography is a field of science dedicated to the study of the lands, the features, the inhabitants, and the phenomena of Earth.

HydrogeologyFields of Study

Hydrogeology is the area of geology that deals with the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the Earth's crust (commonly in aquifers).

IconographyFields of Study

Iconography refers to the content of images, the typical depiction in images of a subject, and related senses in media studies.

LexicologyFields of Study

Lexicology is the part of linguistics which studies words.

MechanicsFields of Study

Mechanics is an area of science concerned with the behavior of physical bodies when subjected to forces or displacements, and the subsequent effects of the bodies on

their environment.

MetallurgyFields of Study

Metallurgy is a domain of materials science and engineering that studies the physical and chemical behavior of metallic elements, their intermetallic compounds, and their

mixtures, which are called alloys.

MineralogyFields of Study

Mineralogy is a subject of geology specializing in the scientific study of chemistry, crystal structure, and physical (including optical) properties of minerals.

MythologyFields of Study

Mythology can refer to the collected myths of a group of people—their body of stories which they tell to explain nature, history, and customs—or to the study of such myths. Various origins for myths have been proposed, ranging from personification of nature, personification of natural phenomena

to truthful or hyperbolic accounts of historical events, to explanations of existing rituals.

PhysicsFields of Study

Physics is the natural science that involves the study of matter and its motion through space and time, along with related concepts such as energy and force.

OpticsFields of Study

Optics is the branch of physics which involves the behaviour and properties of light, including its interactions with matter and the construction of instruments

that use or detect it.

AcousticsFields of Study

Acoustics is the interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of all mechanical waves in gases, liquids, and solids including topics such as vibration, sound,

ultrasound and infrasound.

ChemistryFields of Study

Chemistry is a branch of physical science that studies the composition, structure, properties and change of matter.

CryogenicsFields of Study

Cryogenics is the study of the production and behaviour of materials at very low temperatures.

PneumaticsFields of Study

Pneumatics is a branch of physics applied to technology that makes use of gas or pressurized air. Pneumatic systems used extensively in industry are commonly

powered by compressed air or compressed inert gases.

ThermodynamicsFields of Study

Thermodynamics is a branch of physics concerned with heat and temperature and their relation to energy and work. It defines macroscopic variables, such as internal energy, entropy, and pressure, that partly describe a body of matter or radiation.

SomnologyFields of Study

Somnology (or hypnology) is the scientific study of sleep. It includes clinical study and treatment of sleep disorders and irregularities.

PhilosophyFields of Study

Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such as those connected with reality, existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind and language.

StatisticsFields of Study

Statistics is the study of the collection, analysis, interpretation, presentation, and organization of data.

HorticultureFields of Study

Horticulture is the branch of agriculture that deals with the art, science, technology, and business of plant cultivation.

ArchitectureFields of Study

Architecture refers to the art and science of designing buildings and non-building structures. It is both the process and the product of planning, designing, and

constructing buildings and other physical structures.

PhotographyFields of Study

Photography is the science, art and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image

sensor, or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.

CartographyFields of Study

Cartography is the study and practice of making maps. Combining science, aesthetics, and technique, cartography builds on the premise that reality can be modeled in ways

that communicate spatial information effectively.

KinesiologyFields of Study

Kinesiology, also known as human kinetics, is the scientific study of human movement. Kinesiology addresses physiological, mechanical, and psychological

mechanisms.

This presentation is a result of my experiences while I was helping out my son with his school assignments and project work. I am happy to share this with other students and their parents. Hope you find this informative and useful. Thank you.
