Program Highlights

Author Laurel Snyder spoke to students in all grade levels in 3 sessions: Prek-1st,

2nd

-3rd

, and 4th

-5th

. She highlighted the many revisions that text goes through

before being published and had interactive writing sessions with students.

Multiple digital projects were created this month. 5th

grade completed a unit called

Bigger, Better, Faster: Our Changing Nation. Students created glogsters, animotos,

photo stories, and power points. Many of these products included multiple

products integrated within one another. One 4th

grade class completed persuasive

photo stories using images from creative commons and text written writer’s

workshop. Another 4th

grade class created Animoto book trailers for authors that

they had been studying for several weeks. These students also used creative

commons images in their products.

Preparations were made for the upcoming Exemplary Media Center Open House

being held on March 3.

A major weeding project was completed which has updated our collection to an

average age of 1999.

A professional learning session was held for all teachers on using Literacyhead.

Our school is now a lab school for this online resource.
