The horror novel is set in the 1950’s in New York, the main character is Harry Angel who is hired by Louis Cyphre to find the where abouts of singer Johnyy Favourite.

Harry Angel, te detective, went to a mental hospital where Johnny Favourite was suposedly in. The doctor that was working there said to the detective, after intense interrogation, that Johnny Favourite got in a car to go to the south.

The detective found out that the singer was going to marry but at the same time having an affair with a gypsy voodoo priestess Epiphany Proudfoot. The detective went to interrogate her but she had died some time ago, however her daughter, with the same name was a voodoo priestess and they started a relationship.

Harry Angel started to be very suspcicious about Cyphre because he understood that he was with holding information. Cyphre had a magic show in underground New York bars. Epiphany Proudfoot was then foud dead. We then find that Johnny Favourite traded his oul to the voodoo act, he puts his soul into the soldier’s body, who the reader can suspect that that solider is Harry Angel, supposedly through a voodoo act. Harry Angel and as we find the final paraghraph is caught by the Devil in the crime scene where Epiphany is dead. Harry Angel is deemed to spend to eternity in hell.

REFERENCES TO FUAST AND COMPARISONS:

Johnny Favourite is a clear reference to Faust, they’re both sell their soul to the Devil to achieve success. Johnny Favourite success in music and Faust for more knowledge.
