Similes
• Snow White’s hair is as black as ebony.
• Her skin is as white as snow.
• Her lips are as red as blood.
Similes are one way we can describe a character’
physical traits.
Similes
• First you need to know what noun you are going to use in your simile.
• Second you will need to decide on an adjective that can be used to describe you noun.
• Next you will need to decide if you are going to use “like” or “as” to connect your noun and adjective.
• Finally you are ready to write your own simile.
Similes are an expression that compares one thing to another using “like” or “as”.
Similes are used to enliven writing or as an alternative to description using adjectives.
Ex: as cold as ice
as old as the hills
Her hair is golden like the sun.
