What is Fair Trade?

Fair Trade is similar to a normal supply chain model of business. There are producers, importers, processors, retailers and consumers. The difference is the monitoring and certification at the core of the system which guarantees that the supply chain is built on and functions according to standards of fairness, transparency and accountability.

Top Story: Halloween at Brandon

University• Last year, 16 Brandon University LC members went door to

door as part of WUSC’s Reverse Trick-or-Treating campaign in conjunction with the annual food drive put on by the Brandon University Food Bank

• Pre-Halloween, they went door-to-door dropping off notices in mailboxes , asking homeowners to have food items ready to donate, and alerting them to the ‘big kids’ coming by on Halloween.

• In addition to collecting food items, they handed out Fair Trade chocolate and Fair Trade informational brochures.

• Dressed in full (and hilarious) costumes, the LC members were extremely well received. They collected over 1,100 lbs of food, all the while raising awareness about Fair Trade.
