HUATABAMPO

It is located to the south of the State, Huatabampo is a place that naturally follows from its indigenous customs, which keeps alive their traditions, which gives us the exquisiteness of its dishes and we share the beauty of its beaches. The current city of Huatabampo began to form in the last decade of the nineteenth century and its name comes from the language Cahita (Yaqui and Mayo) from the roots "Huata", willow; "baam", plural "baa", water; and "po", in; "willow in the water"

Huatabampo means 'sauce' in the water language in May, the territory occupied by the municipality, to date, has traditionally been Indian Territory mayos.

ECONOMY AGRICULTURE in the Municipality account with a

agricultural surface of 41.959 hectares, representing 36 percent of the total land area of the municipality, in addition to an extensive network of canals that make possible the gravity-fed irrigation, also the municipal agriculture is supplied from deep wells. The main crops are vegetables, pulses and wheat. Horticultural production is estimated at 41.908 tonnes.

  Another of the productive activities of great importance

for the municipality is aquaculture; there is a vast expanse of land of federal maritime terrestrial zone.

THE LIVESTOCK

  Represents the main economic source and

generator of jobs and income in the village. Develops mainly in its extensive mode. On the basis of the number of heads the activity is the main livestock cattle, according to the S. F. G. in 1997, there were 71.573 hectares of rangeland and 9.438 hectares of meadows of temporary, which means a use of the 69% of the land area of the municipality.

FISHING In the village fishing is an important

activity, already that account with 120 km of coastline, there are 3,000 fishermen grouped into 5 fishing communities. Shrimp is the main product of the industry for its commercial value, other important products are sardines and fish flakes. Huatabampo account with 21 cooperatives established that are dedicated to the exploitation of the shrimp and fish flake of both bay and high seas, with about 800 boats minors and 20 vessels of high seas.

THE AGRO-INDUSTRY ACTIVITY

Develops in the municipal seat, where activities are concentrated in the secondary and tertiary sectors, the agro industrial plant the canneries and complete two six packs of vegetables, and two industries producing agricultural inputs.

THE MUSEUM

General Alvaro Obregon museum The Museum Room is located in the former residence of General Alvaro Obregon, built at the beginning of the last century (1904) and remodeled at the end of the same (1988). It was inaugurated on 17 July 1995 and has since been a permanent space to commemorate the life and work of the revolutionary and former Mexican president.

 CEMETERY

In the municipal cemetery is buried the Gral. Alvaro Obregon emerged who was president of the republic in the period 1920-1924.
