SOFTWARE

As part of our one day editing course, we learnt how to use finalCut pro, which was provided to us from our school. We had a Specialist come in from the YOBEE design school, who taught us the basic logistics of the program. He explained how to perform commands such as changing the exposure and saturation of clips, which proved to be extremely useful to achieve a more dark and low-key lighting look. What I found interesting was learning how to create a split screen, which we ended up using for our fi rst preliminary task. Overall the software was one which I believe to be extremely useful and easy to use, which really aided me when it came to theediting stage of our thriller opening! I am grateful thatwe were given this software and taught how to use it Effi ciently, which in the end allowed us to produce a taskWhich I believe was well executed by me and our group.

In the process of our thri l ler opening topic, especial ly the production one, we used an array of diff erent hardware. A l ist of these include Canon 700D Tripod Shotgun MicrophoneWe were lucky enough to be trusted with such nice equipment, and had a workshop on how to use the Canon 700D. Some of the things we covered in this workshop were how to use the white balance properly, how to adjust the aperture of the camera, and what sett ings would be best. This helped us so much, especial ly as I was the cinematographer, i t was important I knew how to work the camera properly in order to achieve the best shots.

HARDWARE

The use of the internet and onl ine resources has played a major role in our thri l ler opening task, especial ly the planning stages. Al l of the work we did, which varies from Thri l ler research, logo designs, treatment plans, scripts etc. Has al l been uploaded onto both our own foundation blogs and our group one. The use of the internet helped when trying to fi nd motivation for our ideas, looking at ways past students have presented things which is a good indicator of what is required in order to get a high grade. Uploading our work onl ine is a great and eff ective alternative than doing everything by hand and physical ly sending it through to get graded. I t also means that others can see and give possible constructive crit icism that can, and did help us improve the standard of our work.
